Itineraries
Büyük Yeni Han
In one of the oldest caravanserai of Istanbul, we can discover the daily life of craftsmen as well as the building itself with its colors & textures.
From silver workers to the tea maker, this unique place offers the authentic Istanbul atmosphere. An incredible opportunity!
From Haliç bridge
to Süleymaniye mosque
The modern Haliç bridge - which holds a metro station - is full of lines
& geometric features.
On the other hand, Süleymaniye mosque - 5 centuries older - offers us a magnificent architecture
& a unique view of the city.
From Galata bridge
to Haliç bridge
Galata bridge, full of fishermen, has a very special atmosphere & a lot of geometric features.
On the way to Haliç bridge, we’ll go through an old caravanserai.
Then we’ll discover the very much contemporary bridge itself
& its endless lines.
Galataport
This brand new area is not only offering restaurants & shops: it’s also full of lines, reflections & framings.
It offers lots of opportunities to create different photos thanks to a very
modern architecture.
From Karaköy
to Balat & Fener
The workshop begins with a ride on a ferry on the Golden Horn from Karaköy to Balat.
Then we walk from this very typical area to finally end up in the famous & gentrified area of Fener. Lots of occasions to create different & stronger images.
From Galata tower
to Galata bridge
The Galata neigborhood is all about ld streets, old buildings, old pavements, old tower in an area full of life. This gives us chances to work on contrasts, leading lines & fun street art.
Then Galata bridge offers fishermen waiting patiently & all lots of lines to play with.
On the Bosphorus
Istanbul would not be the same without the Bosphorus. Not only riding a ferry-boat on the Bosphorus offers beautiful points of view over the city, but it also gives us time to photograph the boat itself, as another symbol of the city.
Leading lines, reflections, framings, everything is there to create beautiful images.
Kuzguncuk
The small village of Kuzguncuk on the asian side of the Bosphorus, right by the water, is charming thanks to its antique Ottoman wooden houses. Their architectures & colors will surprise you. Jews, Armenians & Greek populations lived there & you’ll find religious buildings in different places. Cobblestone paved streets, trees and a huge vegetable garden are like cherry on the cake!
From Sirkeci to Eminönü
From the Sirkeci train station that used to welcome the Orient Express to a tiny mosque build by the famous architect Mimar Sinan, you will have zillions of photographic opportunities thanks to some Art Nouveau or ottoman-style buildings in Eminönü.
Büyük Valide Han
Büyük Valide Han is THE oldest caravanserai in Istanbul is a treasure to visit & photograph. It’s both ancient AND the location for many wholesale shops, workshops, and a lot of broken walls! It’s fascinating & you’ll remember this experience for a long time.
Hidden gems in Eminönü
From the Grand Bazaar to the Spice Bazaar, you’ll see many many shops, restaurants, delivery guys, sellers drinking tea. During this workshop, I’ll show you incredible hidden places you would never ever find yourself. From a business center to an almost abandoned inn, endless photo opportunities will be there for you to catch.
Grand Bazaar
(2 different workshops possible)
The famous Grand Bazaar had been photographed a million times already. Hopefully, by going “behind the scene” to discover the daily life of workers, we have occasions to capture this unique place very differently.
I know it all & will open the doors for you !
No technical pressure, just come with the phone you’re using daily.
This is why I created photo workshops dedicated to developing your photographic eye that are phone friendly.
The group of 3 to 8 participants goes to special places in Istanbul (known or less known). During 2 hours, we take the time to look into what’s around us & to photograph what caught our interest.
We get inspired by the colors, the textures, the contrasts or what is currently happening.
We work on how to get the best of what we are attracted to, by finding the best angle, the best composition.
We turn our intention into an image: from something that touches you in 3D (reality) to a meaningful image in 2D (photo).
I share with you what I see. I help you looking at details or interesting points of view. I show you a reflection or a frame.
Surprising fact: you will take the time to really “be here & now”. Yes, there is a meditation-like dimension to my workshop!
And of course, you will get creative! You will get out of your comfort zone & you will feel the satisfaction of creating something unique & beautiful.
At the end of the workshop, we sit down for a drink or lunch & chat about our experience.
Afterward, you have a mission to fulfill: select 2 photos, give a title to each & share them in our whatsapp group.
It’s always amazing how people being at the same place at the same time come out with completely different images!
